HTML Widget

Expand the capabilities of the website builder with custom HTML. This widget allows you to embed custom code into your site, and can be used to embed third-party widgets such as videos, contact forms, and more.


While adding custom code can extend your site's functionality, we recommend you only add code from a trusted source. Only add code if you know exactly what it does and how to troubleshoot it if it does not work.

To add the widget:


  1. In the left panel, click Widgets.
  2. Click and drag the HTML widget into your site.

Content Editor


To access the content editor, right-click the widget, and click Edit Content.


The HTML widget provides a space for you to add custom HTML. Just paste or write your HTML in the provided text box.

If the script doesn't run when navigating to the page, disable AJAX Page Changing (Quick Navigation) in the Header HTML.


Design Editor


To access the design editor, right-click the widget, and click Edit Design.

WarningS


  • **We cannot troubleshoot custom code! **
  • Server-side scripts (for example, PHP and ASP) will have no effect in this widget. We recommend using client-side (Javascript, HTML) scripts only.
  • We recommend creating a backup of your site before adding custom code to it so that you can reload a previous version if something goes wrong.
  • Our editor uses HTTPS, so if your script loads an external non-HTTPS file, it will not work.
  • Our system uses jQuery 2.1.1 to function, so implementing a new version of the jQuery library will usually cause our editor to stop working. For this reason, we recommend that any custom code you add use the functions in jQuery 2.1.1 and not attempt to re-initialize the library.
  • While Quick Navigation is on, onload events may not condition properly. If your script uses these, please turn off Quick Navigation as a first troubleshooting step.

Custom sitemap, robots.txt & other files

Snapps allows you to upload several different file types to the root of your website. This allows you to have selected files that are served from the root of your domain, in order to use them as additional data to assist in your website. The most common use cases for this are replacing the default robots.txt and sitemap.xml files that Snapps automatically generates (for more information on the default sitemap, see How do I Access the Sitemap? ). If for example, you want to override these files, you can upload your own. Or, maybe you want to add a file which Snapps does not generate, like ads.txt. NOTE If you do not see the File option on the URL Redirect screen, access it first from the SEO settings and upload a file. After this, additional files can be uploaded by going directly to the URL Redirect screen. To override the default files (sitemaps and robots.txt files), ensure the Source URL matches the file names (sitemap.xml and robots.txt) exactly. The file types supported are .xml, .txt, and .json. The platform does not validate custom files. For example, if a corrupt file is uploaded, it will still be served.

The editor's interface has three main predefined sections: The top navigation bar, the left panel, and the content area. Each of these predefined sections plays an important role in letting you make your site as awesome as possible.
