Set a Default Site Language

If you are building a site in a language other than English, the Site Language feature allows you to translate certain elements into your target language. Simply select your target language and the built-in text on several widgets will be translated into your target language automatically. The widget text has been pre-translated and cannot be customized.

This feature should not be mistaken for the Multi-Language feature, which translates all text on the site using Google Translate. When Multi-Language is enabled, the default site language is set automatically, the Site Language tab will be inactive, and changes to the default language must be set via the Multi-Language feature.

To configure your site language:

  1. In the left panel, click Settings, and then click Site Language.
  2. Select a language. The languages offered include:

Text in the following widgets are affected by this feature:

  • This feature only translates the texts listed above. These texts cannot be edited.
  • Some widgets allow you to select a widget language in the Content Editor (for example, Business Hours, Cookie Notifications). If you selected a language for the widgets, they will remain in the selected language until you change the Site Language.

For more information about Multi-Language sites, see Configure a Multi- Language Site.

Expand the capabilities of the website builder with custom HTML. This widget allows you to embed custom code into your site, and can be used to embed third-party widgets such as videos, contact forms, and more. While adding custom code can extend your site's functionality, we recommend you only add code from a trusted source. Only add code if you know exactly what it does and how to troubleshoot it if it does not work. To learn more about using HTML in Developer Mode, see Developer Mode.
